 To maximize the performance, safety, and lifespan of a semi-automatic crimping machine, adhere to these core practices:

Setup & Calibration:

Die Selection & Installation: Always use the correct, undamaged die set for the specific terminal. Ensure dies are clean and securely locked in place.

Crimp Height Adjustment: Use a go/no-go gauge or micrometer to set the crimp height to the terminal manufacturer's specification before starting production. This is the single most important adjustment for quality.

Feeder Setup (if equipped): Calibrate the feeder to reliably deliver one terminal at a time, properly oriented. Adjust vibration amplitude and track rails to prevent jams or flipping.

Daily Operation:

Wire Preparation: Ensure wires are stripped to the correct length consistently. Untrimmed strands or inconsistent strip length will cause poor crimps.

Correct Loading: Insert the wire fully into the terminal barrel until it bottoms out against the wire stop in the die. Visually verify before crimping.

Cycle Discipline: Use a controlled, deliberate motion to activate the cycle. Do not "jog" or partially actuate the press.

Visual Inspection: Make a habit of inspecting the first and periodic crimps for proper bell-mouth formation, conductor visibility, and absence of cracks or over-crimping.

Maintenance & Safety:

Daily: Clean dies and the wire nest of debris. Check for loose fasteners.

Weekly/Monthly: Lubricate moving parts as per manual. Inspect hydraulic/pneumatic lines (if applicable) for leaks.

Safety First: Never place hands or tools in the die area while the machine is powered. Use the provided safety guards. Ensure all operators are trained.
